With this technique, we use VersaMark, Sticky Embossing Powder and bling bling metallic dust collection. This same technique works great with any of the powders and dusts on the market today. However, the Bling Bling Dusts are a metallic powder that you can buff to a stunning shine unlike any other product.
Ink up your stamp with any pigment or embossing ink (no quick drying inks). We prefer VersaMark because it seems to be stickier and holds the powder better. Just make sure your stamp pad is good and wet. We do not recommend using white ink because it is harder to see just when the sticky powder melts.
Stamp.
Apply Sticky Powder like you would embossing powder.
Thoroughly cover the entire image.
Pour extra back into the bottle.
Check to make sure all the image is covered with Sticky powder. Apply again if needed.
To avoid blowing away some powder, heat up your heat gun.
Heat image. This does not take as long as regular embossing powder. Move on quickly as the powder melts. If you overheat the powder, it will no longer be sticky. Once the powder is melted, it will stay sticky for 1/2 an hour or longer. You do not need to rush through your project.
The image will be shiny.
Use a cotton swab to pick up a small amount of the powder. Gently rub over the stamped image.
It takes very little!
Gently rub over the stamped image.
Pick up additional colors and gently apply to the image.
Check to make sure your image is covered. At this stage it will look like a hopeless mess!
Use a Swiffer dry duster to gently pick up the extra powder. Take one pass over your image, turn the Swiffer to a clean spot, make another pass. Repeat until the image is cleaned off.
Be careful not to rub the powder into the paper.
After all the excess powder is removed, use a clean part of the Swiffer to buff the powder to a shine.
