Butterfly Ornaments

Butterfly stamp, either 1570X or 1570H, depending on what size ornament is desired
Paper: Suggestions include translucent, metallic, colored
White Pigment Stamp Pad
Embossing Powder: Suggestions include "snow" (white with sparkles), silver, gold
Red rhinestone with gold borders
Assorted colored markers
Rubber cement
Gold or silver thread

INSTRUCTIONS:

Stamp three images for each ornament using a white pigment stamp pad. Experiment with different kinds of paper for a different look on each ornament! Metallic papers are beautiful, as are dark colors, translucents, and pastels.

Pastel Butterfly Ornament: Emboss the butterflies using the "snow" embossing powder. Cut out each one. On one butterfly, color the center wing portion pink, blending out with a slightly damp watercolor brush. Color another butterfly blue and the last one green. The idea is to use three different colors, one for each side, so use whatever colors you desire. Color the small outside "dots" on each butterfly the same as the center color. Using rubber cement, glue the wings of each butterfly to each other, placing a gold or silver thread in the center. Tie a circle in the end so a tree hanger can slip through it to hang on the tree. These ornaments are so delicate they can also hang from a light, or on a window at varying lengths.

Christmas Butterfly Ornament: Emboss the butterflies with silver and gold embossing powder. Color the center areas of each butterfly with a bright green marker. Color the small, outside dots with bright red. Use red circle dots or gems to embellish. Glue the wings of each butterfly to the others, placing a gold or silver thread in the center. Tie a circle in the end of the thread so a tree hanger can slip through it to hang on the tree. They make a bright and cheerful Christmas ornament.

Translucent Butterfly Ornament: For an elegant, sparkling butterfly, stamp on vellum. Emboss in either snow, gold or silver embossing powder. Cut out and glue together putting a gold or silver thread in the center.
